KEMI ANNOUNCES DESTINY AWARD WINNERS FOR 2024

Kentucky Employers’ Mutual Insurance (KEMI) recognizes Butler County Schools as one of 27
Kentucky organizations for their commitment to workplace safety.

LEXINGTON, KY – The Destiny Awards are presented annually by KEMI to policyholders best exemplifying
KEMI’s motto, “Control your own destiny.” The awards symbolize what can be accomplished when
organizations work together to improve workplace safety. Policyholders earning the KEMI Destiny
Award effectively demonstrate to KEMI their ability to manage a formal safety program, provide on-site
training and regular safety meetings for employees, and display an ongoing commitment to safety from
all levels throughout their organizations.

Butler County Schools, a first-time recipient, was selected after meeting a stringent set of criteria set
forth by KEMI. According to Director of Transportation, Maintenance, Facilities, Title IX, and Safety
Ryan Emmick, “We are a safety-first organization. Our staff and faculty pride themselves on being safe
and doing the right thing. From student safety to staff safety, it is a major part of discussions daily. Our
maintenance staff has taken steps to ensure all individuals are knowledgeable about safety trends and
focus on fixing things that could lead to injury on the jobsite.

Emmick continued, “We have seen a limited number of accidents and claims over the past four years.
This steady decline is due to the emphasis we have placed upon safety and the educational practices we
have implemented to ensure our student and staff safety.”

“Earning the KEMI Destiny Award requires focus, teamwork, and a relentless pursuit of excellence in
safety,” stated Jon Stewart, president and CEO of KEMI. “This outstanding group of policyholders
understands the importance of a steadfast commitment to ensuring their employees make it home
safely at the end of each workday, and we are honored to present each organization with this
prestigious award.”

Presentation of the 2024 KEMI Destiny Award is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Butler
County Educational Complex, 799 Veterans Way, Morgantown, Kentucky.
