Bear Pride News - Show 4 (2014-2015)

Watch the Bear Pride News - Show 4 includes segments on Yearbook Update, School-Wide Video, EXPLORE testing, Book Club, Cross Country, Movie Review "If I Stay" and PBI Guest Speakers for Mr McCrocklin's classes.

Art Supplies Needed

Mrs. Crawford, BCMS Art/Theatre teacher, is needing some supplies for her classes. Please bring in what you can and give to her for her students to create even more amazing projects throughout this school year.

Empty lysol/windex/pledge wipe containers (yarn Storage)
Old paintbrushes- various sizes (mural)
tissue paper (Stained glass)
wrapping paper (origami)
old plastic fruit (still-life setups)
20 oz. plastic bottles (hanging sculpture)
old markers -working or dried out (watercolors)
Metal clothes hangers (standing sculptures)
Paper towel rolls
Old cds/dvds
old aprons
styrofoam egg cartons
styrofoam plates/cups/bowls

We are also looking for 4x4 wood planks and cement to create a sculpture garden as a community project for our Art Club students.

Food Drive

STLP and the Young Leaders groups are working together to have a food drive.  The Morgantown Mission is in desperate need of supplies.  From now until September 19th please bring in non-perishable food items to 7th period teachers. 

We collected 948 items for the Morgantown Mission. WAY TO GO BCMS! This was our second best year for collection.

The overall winner was Mrs. McKinney’s 7th period class. They brought in 378 items!!
Grade level winners:
6th – Mrs. Bucklew
7th – Mr. Frazier
8th – Mr. Embry

STLP Students exhausted after carrying all the boxes to the front lobby for pick-up.


Parents of 7th and 8th grade students:  Students will be taking the EXPLORE test on Wednesday, Sept. 24th!  This will count as part of the School Accountability Score for 8th grade and will allow 7th grade a practice opportunity for next year!  If you would like to learn more about this test and the information and opportunities that it provides your children please check it out at www.explorestudent.org or click here to view a PDF on Why Take the ACT EXPLORE?

Library News

Book Club members who read The Giver will be competing for spots to go to Van Meter Hall at WKU Oct 21st to see The Giver in production. 12 spots are available. Students will be chosen by highest scores on a written test on this title.

There is a night-time production of The Giver on this same date. Tickets for adults are $10 and students $8. Anyone interested in taking your student and meeting with a BCMS group there that night to see the play, please contact Mrs. Cardwell.  latisha.cardwell@butler.kyschools.us

Yearbook Info.

Yearbook – Special discount order forms will be coming home with your students this week.  These very special prices are good until September 15, 2014.

Baby Pictures or Toddler Pictures – Parents, if you would like to have your 8th grade student’s baby and/or toddler picture in the yearbook. Please send your child’s picture with their name written on the back of the picture to Mrs. Taylor in Room 231.  The cost is $5.00 per picture.  These are due by October 15, 2014.
